New Features

New version of the Digital Twin on W3C Web of Things (WoT)

Another new feature included in this 6.1.0-Warcraft release of Onesait Platform is that we have updated the version of the digital twins we work with.

The Platform has supported the Digital Twin concept for several versions, allowing the modelling, development, deployment and orchestration of these. At the time, we supported Mozilla’s approach with its WebThings. However, WebThings has been an independent project for some time now, so the W3C Web of Things (WoT) has standardised on the Digital Twin. Because of this, we have decided that, from this version onwards, our Digital Twins will be based on the W3C WoT.

What changes does this mean for the Platform?

We have tried to make the change as transparent as possible, so the changes are minimal when creating a digital twin.

First of all, it is necessary to create a Digital Twin Template, something we can do from the Control Panel by going to the menu Main Concepts > My Digital Twins WoT:

From here, you can access the list of digital cufflinks available. On the top right hand side you will access the ‘Templates’ tab.

When creating a new digital twin template, you will only notice some minor changes in some fields compared to the previous version:

Once the template has been created, you will return to the list of digital twins, where you will be able to register a new digital twin using the definition previously made in the template, in this case adding connection parameters:

All other parts of our digital twins implementation continue to work as before. All information regarding this can be found in the Digital Twins section of our Development Portal.
